A friend of mine recently sent a link to a new documentary film about the power

of music and memory.  The name of the film is “Alive Inside.” Music is being used

as means of “waking up” people with dementia and re-vitalizing their worlds. The

first you tube presents Henry, a resident in a nursing home who is brought back to

life (or a place of animated wonder) when he is given his favorite music to listen to.

The second you tube is a trailer from the documentary, “Alive Inside.” Both are

exemplars of the stunning power of music to evoke memory and re-create vitality

and joy in a patient’s experience.
