In the United States, we have lost touch with  human contact and  human care.  Art in Medicine provides connection with others, and a bridge to understanding oneself. Can Art heal?  The answer is yes. For thousands of years, art has been embedded in the beliefs of diverse cultures around the world, and reflected in the artifacts and sacred objects left behind. Artists have known the power of art to engage the human spirit, to communicate and to heal. Dancer Anna Halprin, now in her 90’s, used dance to assist in healing her cancer 30 years ago. Her life is a testimony of the power of art to heal. Don Campbell used sound to assist in healing  cancer, and there are numerous stories of artists who have used art to heal.

Below is a video produced by the Foundation for Art and Healing which presents the concept of art and medicine in a clinical setting.
